The Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Program was formerly promoted by Ministry of Tourism Malaysia (MOTAC) for 20 years since 2002 to encourage foreign citizens to stay in Malaysia as their Second Home. MM2H Program is one of the most successful long stay program worldwide, managed to attract 57,478 foreigners (active).

Who Can Apply for MM2H?

Application Categories

  • Category A: Above 50 Years Old
  • Category B: 35 - 49 Years Old

Family Inclusion

  • Principal can bring along spouse and children who are not married
  • Children can enjoy (5+5) years visa until 21 years old
  • Annual renewal available until 35 years old

Extended Family

  • Principal can bring along parents and parents-in-law
  • 5+5 years renewable visa available
  • Add-on parents after principal obtains MM2H approval

Financial Requirements

  • Proof liquid asset of RM1,500,000
  • Proof monthly offshore income above RM40,000
  • After MM2H approval, place a fixed deposit of RM1,000,000

Financial Requirements

Category Requirements Upon MM2H Application Requirements Upon MM2H Approval
Category A: Principal between 35 – 49 years old
  • Monthly Offshore Income: Provide proof of monthly offshore income above RM40,000 (latest 3 months' salary, business income, rental income, dividends)
  • Liquid Assets: Proof of liquid assets above RM1,500,000 (latest 3 months' savings account, bonds, stocks, fixed deposits, mutual funds, or property)
  • Open fixed deposit placement of RM1,000,000 at any local bank in Malaysia
  • Add-on dependent have to add RM50,000 on fixed deposit placement
  • One year later, principal can withdraw up to RM500,000 for the purchase of property, education fees or medical bills
Category B: Principal above 50 years old
  • Provide monthly offshore income above RM40,000 (latest 3-months pension, salary, business income, rental income, bank interest, share dividends)
  • Liquid asset proof above RM1,500,000 (latest 3-months saving account, bonds, stocks, fixed deposit, mutual funds or property)
  • Open fixed deposit placement of RM1,000,000 at any local bank in Malaysia
  • One year later, principal can withdraw up to RM500,000 for the purchase of property, education fees or medical bills

MM2H Application Details

MM2H Application Fees

  • MM2H Professional Fees: RM15,000 for couple application
  • Add-on dependent is RM2,000 per child

Application Procedures

  • Applicants will be screened and accepted on case-by-case basis
  • After MM2H approval, principal and dependents are required to visit Malaysia for visa endorsement
  • Visa Endorsement Schedule: 2-3 days bank, medical & insurance procedures
  • 1-2 days visa endorsement on appointment basis
  • MM2H approval takes 2 to 4 months after submission to Malaysian Immigration

Payment Terms

  • Once accepted for MM2H, principal must make deposit payment RM3,000 and begin document preparation according to checklist
  • Balance payment to be made before MM2H submission to Immigration
